[DPS] Occultist – Insanity Priest

This spec has only been made for fun. However, since priests are getting more and more into Old Gods’ stuff, I thought I could make another shadowy like spec based on them. Everyone loves tentacles.

Spell_shadow_mindflay[Insanity] priest crazed by twisted visions, worshiper of old unknown deities, whose being holds between sanity and insanity.

Spec skill:

Spell_shadow_mindflay [Induce madness]: channel to fall into insanity for 2.5 sec. Every 0.5 sec channeled corrupts the priest by 5%. The damage taken while channeling is halved. Indice Madness cannot be interrupted nor silenced. Interrupting it by any other mean causes the aggressor to flee in terror for 3 sec.

Upon reaching 100% corruption, Lucidity replaces Induce madness.

spell_shadow_brainwash [Lucidity]: fight for the control of your inner self, dealing x irresistible damage equal to all damage dealt in the previous 10 sec over 5 seg. Lucidity can only be used in the 5 seconds after having been 10 sec fully corrupted. Using Lucidity that way grants another 10 seconds of control, sums a charge of Torment and recovers x% of total mana.

Passive skills:

ability_warlock_everlastingaffliction [Corruption]: the priest rapidly corrupts himself over time after using Induce madness. Every 1% of corruption, the priest deals 0.5% more damage. Upon reaching 100% corruption, mana will not regenerate and all mana cost is increased by 100%.

spell_shadow_shadesofdarkness[Between sanity and insanity]: 10 seconds after reaching 100% corruption, there are 5 seconds in which his mind is on the abyss to madness. In those 5 sec, the priest deals 50% more damage and may use Lucidity. If Lucidity is not used, the caster loses x% of his maximum health and wanders for 5 sec until being able to use Lucidity again. Lucidity increases all damage dealt by 25% for the next 10 sec and reduces the duration of all crowd control effects by 15%. The 5 sec margin does not occur out of combat.

achievement_boss_yoggsaron_01 [Unknown Entity]: veneration to entities that are beyond reason makes that every 25% corruption, a tentacle grows on the back of the caster, up to 4 tentacles. Every tentacle grants 12.5% extra damage. All healing and damage received is split between the priest and the tentacle that has been more time active. Tentacles have x% of the caster’s health. If a tentacle dies, 25% corruption is lost. Tentacles further corrupt the priest, up to 3% per sec, haste speeds up corruption.

achievement_dungeon_ulduarraid_misc_06 [Abduction]: upon death, the priest succumbs to the most deep insanity for 10 sec. The caster emits cries of infinite horror, inducing all nearby enemies to run feared for reasons beyond imagining, dealing damage equal to the triple of the last direct hit received that caused death over 8 sec. The duration of this fear can stack, but not the damage. This unknown horror cannot be resisted nor prevent by any means. When the effect is over, the priest is abducted by faceless entities.

inv_misc_herb_whispervine [Psychosurreal]: critical hits dealt while totally corrupted have a chance of provoking confusing visions on the target in a way similar to drunkenness, but far more creepy. Those visions can be Twisted, Reversed and Mirrored, last 10 sec and cannot occur more than once every 30 sec.

Spec skills:

inv_axe_2h_stratholme_d_01 [Mind lash]: tentacles release waves of insanity, dealing x spellshadow damage to all enemies on their path. Can be cast while casting other spells. 3 seg CD.

achievement_boss_cthun [Lunatic gaze]: deals x spellshadow damage every 1 sec for 5 sec to all enemies in a frontal cone. Critical hits fear the enemies for 1 sec. 10 sec CD. inflige x daño de arcanosombra cada 1 seg durante 5 seg a todos los objetivos en un abanico frontal. Los golpes críticos aterrorizan al objetivo durante 1 seg. 10 seg CD. “If you gaze for long into an abyss the abyss gazes also into you.”

spell_deathknight_strangulate [Hidden word: Torment]: torments the target’s mind, dealing x spellshadow damage over 15 sec. Using Lucidity while Torment is active will renew its duration and grant a charge of Torment. Every charge of torment increases its damage by 20% and stacks up to 5. Using Lucidity a 5th time will make Torment to deal instantly all its periodic damage, but will reset the charges to 1. Replaces Shadow word: Pain.

achievement_boss_heraldvolazj [Whispers in the Depths]: calls old deities. 2 tentacles emerge from the ground to aid the priest. 3 min CD. Replaces Shadowfiend.

achievement_bg_wineos [Psychic abrasion]: all tentacles launch rays of insanity around the target at random locations. All enemies that touch the rays will receive x spellshadow damage per sec. Lasts 15 sec. 30 sec CD. Replaces Mind sear.

spell_fire_twilightimmolation [Caress of Insanity]: destroys, twists and brings madness to the enemy’s thoughts, dealing x spellshadow damage. This spell has a chance of granting a buff on mastery/haste/crit chance for 5 sec and has a chance of summoning a minor tentacle nearby that attacks the target for 5 sec. Can be cast while moving. 2 sec cast. Replaces Mind flay.

inv_misc_shadowegg [Is this Reality?]: for the next 10 sec, all tentacles have a chance of copying the spells cast by the priest. The spells copied inflict 50% less damage. 1 min CD.

Mastery:

achievement_boss_generalvezax_01 [Mastery – Cosmic Horror] – Increases all damage caused by tentacles and lesser faceless minions by x%.

ability_creature_disease_05 [Mastery – Corrupter] – Increases the percentage of damage per 1% corruption by x%.

    Well yes, But SP has always been sorta bland to me, I’m not against this at all, in fact i really do like the ideas, but its more or less just an alternate secondary resource (That is Very well laid out and looks intersty to manage) and an old god skin mixed in with some DPS cooldowns (Of witch SP is in desperate need of), IT just looks like an overhaul, I VERY good and complex one, but an overhaul nonetheless

    Well, I personally like Shadow as it is now, which is why I could freely play with the old god idea to make a fresh new spec. I don’t know to what point merging both would be viable, but they definitely could.
